I work both as a solist, a spelman and in many different collaborations. This year I´m happy to take part in two new projects.
In spring I will perform with "Nordic light" (FIN/DK/N/SWE) and give three exclusive concerts during folk baltica 2022.
End of 2022 I am excited to give performances together with the nordic flamenco project "La leyenda del tiempo"
2022 will also be the year I record my first solo album, after more then 15 albums in different collaborations it´s finally time to go solo.

Solo - Ellen Lagergren
The nyckelharpa has in tradition been a solo instrument, where the instrument in itself carries the role of the percussionist as well as the melody player, with drone, chords and harmonies built into its very construction. In 2022 and 2023 I will record, release and tour solo with two new albums, one with traditional material after Ellen Lagergren (1882-1966) and one with my own original compositions. I want to go back to the roots of being a solo player, and give the richness of this instruments full potential. I hope you will enjoy the music.
Duo Näsbom / Paulson
Experience the spark, mind reading and close interaction between the two nyckelharpa enthusiasts, when Näsbom and Paulson meet in concert and play for dancing. New compositions and traditional tunes blend in well together in their repertoire, thanks to their deep knowledge of the traditional music as well as mastering the voices of this unique instrument. Each tune permeated with the pure love of making music together, all delivered straight from the heart.
Duo Cavez / Paulson
A meeting between a Belgian accordionist and a Swedish nyckelharpist, playing tunes flavored by their traditional language as well as their own musical personalities. In the hands of Sophie Cavez and Josefina Paulson first prioritet is always the pulsating beat and every note gets groove oriented. With the rich overtones from the sympathetic strings of the nyckelharpa, melting together with the warm chords and powerful baselines from Sophie’s accordion- they create soundscapes and a garden of music, both for your ears to find a peaceful rest in and the joy and space to move your body in dance.
Duo Bengtsson / Paulson
A southern swede (skåning) with a double-bass, and a nyckelharpist born and raised in Västmanland meet in this duo to discover how they can challenge their given roles that comes with their instruments. Taking new roads in leading and carrying their favorite melodies from their county and tell the old stories in a new personal way.
What kind of music do you get if you mix the traditional music from the region Emilia Romagna in Italy with the traditional tunes from Västmanland in Sweden? What does it sound like when the Italian organetto and the Swedish nyckelharpa meet and take turns in leading the dance? Stefano Delvecchio (Ciuma) and Josefina Paulson (Fina) makes CiumaFina and these questions might be answered in this duo exploring a new soundlandscape together. With new compositions and traditional music from their countries they melt together the typical elements from their both traditions into a joint Swetalian style. Passionated waltzes, cheerful gallopes and powerful polkas crowding on the same repertoire as speedy-jiggs, mixed with soft and gentle polskas and imaginative dreamy-tunes. All with main focus on dancability and the musical storytelling.www.ciumafina.com
Rooke / Wennerbrandt / Paulson
A spontaneous meeting - recording a live session - between Göran Wennerbradt (traditional acoustic guitar and lap style slide) SWE Josefina Paulson (nyckelharpa) SWE and Don Rooke (acoustic steel guitar) CAN. New compositions, improvisations and some old favourites resulted in the digital release ”The Undercurrent” 2021
Duo Normansson / Paulson
Carina och Josefina has played music together during more then 20 years. First as student and teacher, then as close friends with a musical mother and daughter bound. Carina being one of the strongest voices of the traditional music in Västmanland and a master on fiddle, Josefina deeply inspirerad by her strong and free voice of always making meaningful music. Västmanlands Världsmusikorkester Work
I am the proud musical leader of the “World music orchestra of Västmanland” that brings together new and more experienced musicians that has moved in from all over the world and are now living in Västmanland. We make a fusion of all of this traditional music and our own version of this material, where our repertoar reflects the presence of each member of the orchestra.www.workork.se
Play for dancing
One of my greatest passions in playing folkmusic is to play for dance. Most of the traditional material is ment for moving to and the dance groove is always in the center of the music I play, also when playing concerts. Meet me on the dancefloor solo or in any of the project I´m touring with, in both smaller venues as balfolk festivals around Europe.
